Louisa Kinney

March 20, 1924 — November 23, 2019

Louisa Marie Kinney, 95, of Franklin, NE, passed away at Arbor Care Centers in Franklin, Nebraska and went to be with her Lord and Savior on 11/23/2019.

Her homecoming service will be 11:00am, Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at Zion Lutheran Church in Macon, Nebraska with the Reverends Baron and Nancy Cole & Reverend Phil Sloat officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00pm to 8:00pm Monday, December 2, 2019 at Hutchins Funeral Home, 1402 M Street, Franklin, Nebraska. The family will be greeting family and friends 5:00pm to 7:00pm.

Louisa was born March 20, 1924 in Franklin County, at home to John F. and Marie E. (Johnson) Jelken of which she was the second born of their four children. She attended school at District 67 Macon and graduated from Franklin High School in 1942.

Louisa was baptized at infancy and confirmed April 10, 1938 at Zion Lutheran Church. On September 14, 1945, she married Earl Kinney in Macon, NE at the Zion Lutheran Church. To their union two children were born, Loren Ray and Marie Theresa. While Earl was in the U.S. Army Louisa resided with her parents. Upon his return Louisa and Earl farmed for 10 years in the Macon area and then they moved to Twin Falls, ID in 1957. While there in Idaho, Louisa worked for the public schools and they were active in the Christian Church. In 1967, they moved to Irving, Texas where they were active in the Lutheran Church. While in Texas, Louisa was an Avon representative for 7 years and garnered many top awards. Later, Louisa worked at Susan Crane, Inc of Dallas Texas until 1986 when they moved back to Franklin, NE.

Louisa was a member at Zion Lutheran Church, in Macon. She loved and enjoyed being with her family and Friends. She enjoyed canning the produce from their garden, was splendid at needle work and was a real fun competitor at card games. She was a beloved Daughter, Wife, Mother, Sister, Cousin, Godmother and Aunt to her family.

Louisa was preceded in death by her husband Earl, May 28 ,2013, her son Loren Ray April 4, 1963 at age 17 from Leukemia and her infant daughter, Marie Theresa in 1949 a few days after birth; her parents John and Marie Jelken; brother Frank J. Jelken; brothers-in-law, Lowell Herrick and Don Lodge and sister-in-law Norma Jean Jelken.

Louisa is survived by her sisters, Elverna M. Herrick of Franklin, NE and Irene V. Lodge of Ft. Worth, Texas, sister in-law, Erma Jean Albers of Campbell, NE and a host of nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

A memorial fund has been established in her honor to Zion Lutheran Church in Macon, NE. or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Hutchins Funeral Home, Franklin, Nebraska is in charge of these arrangements.
