Wilma Long

June 16, 1915 — February 3, 2008

Wilma Detlefsen Long of Franklin, Nebraska passed away on February 3rd at the Golden Living Center in Franklin, Nebraska at the age of 92. Services will be held on Thursday, February 7th at 2:00 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Macon. Burial will be at the Greenwood Cemetery in Franklin. Visitation will be Tuesday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Wednesday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Hutchins Funeral Home, Franklin.

Wilma was born on June 16th, 1915 on a farm south of Macon, Nebraska to Christian and Mary (Buss) Detlefsen. She attended school north of Franklin in District 2 through the 8th grade, ninth grade in Gothenburg, and graduated from Franklin High School in 1933. Wilma was married to Kenneth Cleo Long on February 21, 1946 in Phillipsburg, Kansas. Wilma was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Macon, and was baptized and confirmed there. She was also a member of the VFW auxiliary in Franklin. Upon graduation Wilma worked at Corner Lunch in Franklin until 1940 when she went to work at Naden's Pharmacy. She worked there for 40 years until she retired. Wilma was a strong family person and her life centered on her children and grand children, and their activities. She was very close to all of her sisters, and enjoyed socializing with friends. Wilma loved entertaining family. She enjoyed cooking, trying new recipes, and canning the vegetables from their garden.

Survivors of the immediate family include Wilm'a husband, Kenny, of Aurora, son, David and wife Patty of Aurora, son, K. C. and wife Pat of Lincoln. Grand-children Stacey and husband Ryan Petersen of Omaha, Shannon and husband Benji Hoegh of Aurora, and Tyler Long of Lincoln, J. C. and wife Jamie Long, of Yutan, Chace and wife Kelli Long, of Lincoln, Shad and wife Wendy Ingram, of Franklin, and Kari and husband Mike Yelken of Macon. Great-grandchildren Mackenna, Alivia, and Asher Petersen, Jayden Long, Ella and Avery Hoegh, Reagan Long, Brittney, Skyler, and Colby Ingram, and Madison and Abigail Yelken, and many nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and nine other siblings, John, William, Fred, Ralph, Amos, Fried, Carl, Norma and Helena.
