Wesley Kahrs

Wesley Dean Kahrs, son of Richard and Lorraine (Yelken) Kahrs, was born on January 25, 1947 in Minden, Nebraska. He passed away on Friday, March 16, 2018, at home in Franklin, Nebraska.

Wes attended school in Campbell, Nebraska. Wes was a member of FFA and graduated from Campbell High School in 1967. Wes lived and worked for a short time in Lincoln, Nebraska but returned home to help with the family farm in Spring Valley near Riverton. After Rich and Lorraine retired and moved to Franklin in 1992, Wes moved to Franklin with his parents but continued to farm a portion of the acreage of the family farm, and only recently was starting to think about the possibility of retiring from his farming activities.

Wes loved the farm and the outdoors. He loved to talk about railroads and tractors of all kinds, from vintage Olivers and John Deere's to the latest in lawn tractors. He will be remembered as a dedicated farmer and a regular at coffee in downtown Franklin when he couldn’t be out on the farm discing or picking up bales with his John Deere.

Wes was a devoted member of the Spring Valley Methodist Church, the Franklin Methodist Church, and more recently Christian Fellowship Evangelical Free Church in Franklin.

Wes is survived by his brother, Jerry Kahrs and wife Katherine of Valparaiso, Indiana and sister Connie Kisselman and husband Glen of Golden, Colorado; 1 niece, Juliana: 3 nephews, Andy, Isaac and John; and many other relatives and friends in and around Franklin County.

The Funeral Ceremony will be held at the gravesite at 11:00 am Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at the Greenwood Cemetery in Franklin. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm Tuesday, March 20, 2018 in the Hutchins Funeral Home in Franklin. Memorials may be given to the Franklin Senior Center.
