Virgil Dallmann

Virgil Lloyd Dallmann of Franklin, Nebraska, was born September 22, 1929, northwest of Macon, Nebraska, to William and Katherine “Katie” (Blank) Dallmann. He passed away March 13, 2018, at Franklin Care and Rehabilitation Center, Franklin, Nebraska, at the age of 88 years.

Virgil was a baptized and confirmed member of the Macon United Methodist Church. He was drafted for military service in the United States Army from November 20, 1951 to November 15, 1953, during the Korean War.

Virgil married Doris Worley on September 4, 1955, at the Macon United Methodist Church. They have celebrated 62 years of marriage. They lived on his parents’ farm and engaged in farming and raising livestock. They retired in 1991, and moved into Franklin, where he enjoyed playing pool and cards. Virgil also mowed lawns, drove the bus for the Senior Center, and delivered meals on wheels in his retirement.

Virgil was preceded in death by both parents; two brothers – Harold Dallmann, and Leslie Dallmann both of Hildreth, Nebraska; and sister – Irene Bislow of Lincoln, Nebraska.

He is survived by his loving wife, Doris of the home; two daughters – Janet McAlevy and Wanda and husband, Robert Schutte, all of Grand Island, Nebraska; two sons – Michael Dallmann and Richard Dallmann, both of Macon, Nebraska; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one brother – Donald and wife, Phyllis Dallmann of Fairbury, Nebraska; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A celebration of life service for Virgil L. Dallmann will be (was) Saturday, March 17, 2018, at 10:30 a.m., at the Macon United Methodist Church, Franklin, Nebraska, with Pastor Phil Sloat officiating. Mrs. Connie Schmidt was the organist. The hymns will be (were) – “How Great Thou Art,” “Amazing Grace,” and “Hymn of Promise.” Casket Bearers will be (were) Justin Dallmann, Joey Dallmann, Mitchell Dallmann, Corey Dallmann, Josh McAlevy, and Seth Dallmann. Honorary casket bearers will be (were) – Katie Dallmann, Sadie Dallmann, Tessa Price, E. J. Price, Jessica Rogers, and Justin Rogers. Interment will be (was) in the Greenwood Cemetery, Franklin, Nebraska, with military honors. Visitation will be (was) Friday, March 16, 2018, from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Hutchins Funeral Home, Franklin, Nebraska, with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
