Sophia Maska

Sophia Anna Maska was born November 14, 1914 in Hildreth, Nebraska to George and Joanna Jelken Bunger. She passed away from this life on Saturday, September 12, 2009 at Bethany Home in Minden, Nebraska, at the age of 94.

She attended District 26 Rewerts School southwest of Hildreth. She graduated from the 8th grade in 1929. She married Carl Maska on March 31, 1933 in Smith Center, Kansas. He preceded her in death on September 22, 1987. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Macon Methodist Church. She was confirmed in the former Lutheran Church near Hildreth, Nebraska.

She is survived by her children: Jean Swancutt and husband George; Arlo Maska, all of Franklin, NE; Don Maska, Kearney, NE; Robert Maska and wife Joni, San Diego, CA; and Carl Maska and wife Pam, San Diego, CA; Grandchildren: Victoria Swancutt; Douglas Swancutt; Natasha Maxwell and husband Scott; Nicole Caro and husband Richard; Step- grandchildren: Lisa Christensen; Jill Fischer; and Natalie Barr.

She was preceded in death by her husband; brothers: Elmer and Clarence Bunger; sisters: Anna Sophia and Lilly Osterbuher; and a granddaughter Leslie Ann Swancutt.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Saturday, September 19, 2009 at Macon Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 9AM to 8PM Friday at Hutchins Funeral Home. Burial will be in Macon Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Macon MAWS.
