Rose Sterner

Rose B. Sterner , 101 years of age, of Franklin passed away Saturday, March 22, 2014 at her home in Franklin, Nebraska. She was born on June 9, 1912 in Red Cloud, Nebraska to Louis and Mary (Jelinek) Vavricka.

Rose attended Blue Hill High School and Hastings College. She worked as a secretary for an insurance company and real estate company. She married Trueman Sterner on November 22, 1935 at Lincoln, Nebraska. To this union two daughters were born - Sharon and Constance.

Rose enjoyed playing bridge, Cornhusker athletics, especially football. She was a member of Chapter BG, PEO.

Rose is survived by her daughters Sharon and husband, Alan Townsend of Berthoud, Colorado; and Constance Uden of Franklin, Nebraska; four grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Trueman Sterner; son-in-law, Vance Uden; two brothers, and a sister.

Mrs. Rose Sterner has requested no service be held. Inurnment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Franklin, Nebraska. Memorials may be left to Franklin EMTs or Franklin Senior Citizen Center, in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be left online at http://www.hutchinsfh.com/.
