Rodney Morris Edgar,71 of Franklin passed away peacefully on Friday, July 24, 2015, at the Golden Living Center, Franklin, Nebraska.
Rod was born on April 16, 1944 in Smith Co. KS to Verle & Elsie (Schriner). He graduated 8th grade from rural school district 18 and attended Riverton High School before serving in the Army National Guard for 6 yrs.
Rod was previously married and was blessed with five children.
On February 16, 1982 he was united in marriage with Rita Spaulding. Rod brought 5 children while Rita had 3 of her own to form their family.
Rod was employed by Southern Power as a journeyman lineman for 23 years before leaving that field to work with livestock which made him very happy. Rod enjoyed working outside especially with calves & hogs.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, brother Larry (Rose) Edgar of Guide Rock, sister Regina Simpson of Grand Island, son Bryon (Lana) Edgar of LaVista, daughter Barb (Tim) Hays of Oregon Missouri, daughter Brenda (Mike) James of Riverton, son Brent (Sheryl) Edgar also of Riverton, son Rodney Edgar Jr. of Gothenburg, step daughter Christine (Jeff) Rumery of Omaha, step son Todd (Diane) Spaulding of Grand Island, step son Lance (Doni) Spaulding of Council Bluffs Iowa; 28 Grandchildren and 9 Great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Stanley Edgar, sisters Kay Webber and Robera Hoschauer.
Graveside service is planned for Saturday, Aug 1 at 10:30 a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery. Cremation was selected. The register book will be at the Hutchins Funeral Home, Franklin, Nebraska, Thursday, July 30, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon, and Friday, 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. for friends to sign and leave their condolences. Everyone is welcome to sign a memory book and visit with family at the Golden Age Village Community room, 1100 K Street, after the service.

Hutchins Funeral Home, 1402 M. Street, Franklin, Nebraska, was in charge of arrangements.
