Richard Dale Mauler, formerly of Franklin, Nebraska and a dedicated city mail carrier in Minden and Navy veteran, passed away on May 17, 2026, at the Centre Ave Health & Rehab Facility in Fort Collins, Colorado. He was born on May 7, 1932, in Pleasanton, Nebraska to Julius and Tecla (Mendyk) Mauler, and throughout his life, he was known simply as a nice guy by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
He was a graduate of Pleasanton High School, Pleasanton, Nebraska.
Richard proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy during the Korean War. From 1952 to 1956, he fulfilled his duties as an Aviation Machinist Mate, contributing to the nation's defense with honor and commitment. His military service remains a testament to his sense of duty and patriotism.
Following his honorable discharge, Richard devoted many years to serving the community of Minden, Nebraska, as a city mail carrier for the United States Postal Service. His reliability and friendly demeanor made him a respected figure in the town, touching many lives through his daily rounds.
On November 18, 1989 Richard married Judy Ann Hiatt. Tougher they enjoyed many outings especially traveling to various casinos.
He was a member of the Franklin Congregational Church, Bloomington American Legion Post #145.
Richard was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Judy Ann Mauler, parents, Julius J. and Tecla A. (Mendyk) Mauler, his sons, Mark R. Mauler and Michael J. Mauler, his brother, Donald "Don" Mauler, and his step-daughter, Barbara Ann Biltoff. Their memories live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved them.
He is survived by his son, James W. Mauler; grandchildren, Derek and Evan Mauler, Trish Lancaster, great grandchildren, Brianna and Sean Mauler; step-son, Bradley (Sharon) Biltoff; step-daughter, Bonney McClure; and step grandchildren Rayne Biltoff, Shannon Johnson, and Trenton McClure ; step great-grandchildren, Preston and Parker Johnson, Nyla McClure; many in-laws, several nieces and nephews and other relatives and a community of friends. Richard’s family was deeply important to him, and his legacy will endure through them.
Richard Dale Mauler’s life was one of service, kindness, and quiet strength. He will be remembered fondly for his unwavering dedication to his country, his community, and his family. His passing marks the end of a significant chapter, but his spirit and the impact he made will continue to resonate with all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Graveside services are pending in the Greenwood Cemetery, Franklin, Nebraska with the Hutchins Funeral Home, Franklin, Nebraska to be Announced .
