Norma Goracke

Norma Jean Goracke was born October 12, 1911 in Webster County, Nebraska to John Henry and Effie Wilson Paulson. She passed away from this life on January 8, 2011 at the Golden Living Center, Franklin, Nebraska at the age of 99.

She moved to Franklin County and attended grade school east and north of Franklin, and graduated from Franklin High School. On November 21, 1932 she married Cecil Goracke in Smith Center, Kansas. To this union was born two sons and four daughters. They lived in Springfield, Colorado for a year then moved back to Kansas where they bought the Flather's place 11 miles south of Franklin. They farmed and milked cows for a living. They moved to a farm south of Naponee in 1958. Norma worked for the Lethem Cafe and also was head cook for the school in Naponee. In 1974 they moved to Franklin where they resided in their home until 1986 when Cecil died. She remained in the home until early 2010 when she went to the Golden Living Center in Franklin.

She is survived by her son Ronald Goracke and wife Vicki, Minden, NE; daughters Celia (Janie) Kugler, Lincoln, NE; Carol (Beth) Saathoff and husband Harold and Donna Rose and husband Rodney, both of Franklin, NE; 7 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil, twin infant children Marvin and Marvel, she was the youngest and last survivor of 11 children and their spouses, sisters- Lillie and Frank Worman, Louise and Henry King, Mertie and Wilford Worman, Mable and George Pumroy, Bernice and Oral Cordle, Carrie and Orval Cole, Ailene and Ralph Nelson, Belle and Ed Watson; and two brothers- Art Paulson and wife Kate and Guyier Paulson. She recently lost her son-in-law Gerald Kugler and nephew Elden Watson.The family suggests memorials to the Norma Goracke Memorial Fund.

Funeral services will be at 10:30AM Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at the United Methodist Church with Rev. Nancy Leonard officiating. Visitation will be from 9AM to 5PM Monday and 9AM to 8PM Tuesday at Hutchins Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials to the Norma Goracke Memorial Fund.
