Melvin's wishes were for immediate cremation. The family suggests memorials be made to the Bloomington Community Center in care of the funeral home.
Melvin Lee Taylor, son of Floyd L. and Doris Jean (Schriner) Taylor was born October 18, 1960 at Alma, Nebraska. Melvin grew up with his three brothers on a farm north of Naponee. He graduated from Franklin High School in 1979.
Following graduation, Melvin went to work for John Haussermann working on his farm. After several years he went to work for CPI in Republican City and later in Franklin where he worked for over 30 years driving truck. When finished each day at CPI, he would go home to Bloomington and work on his own farm. He simply loved to farm.
On January 13, 1989 Melvin married Sandra Klien and became step-father to her sons Justin and Tory. They enjoyed many years together until she passed from this life in the spring of 2020. Melvin continued to work his own farm even though his health was deteriorating. Melvin’s struggles with health came to an end Sunday, July 16, 2023 when he passed from this life at his home in Bloomington, Nebraska. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Sandra; and infant son Derek Taylor.
Melvin will be forever remembered by his brothers Bryan and wife Jean, Grand Island, Doug, Minden and Warren and wife Shawna, Glenvil; step-sons Justin (Kristy) Klien, Hastings and Tory Wilbur, Franklin; step-grandchildren Brogen and Alex Wilbur, Katana Schwedes, Haley and Derek Klien; numerous nieces, nephews and friends; his good friend and care giver Brenda Kleen; and his beloved Chihuahua “Rusty”.
Graveside services will be held 11:00am Saturday, August 5th, 2023 at Maple Grove Cemetery, Bloomington, Nebraska with Pastor Kasey Loschen, Crossgate Community Church, officiating. Melvin will be laid to rest beside his wife Sandra.
Memorials may be made to the Bloomington Community Center in c/o Hutchins Funeral Home, Franklin, Nebraska.
