Maxine M. Taylor

FOR THOSE COMING TO THE GRAVESIDE SERVICE MONDAY AFTERNOON, WE SUGGEST YOU BRING A LAWN CHAIR.

Maxine Mae Taylor was born to Ralph Allen and Joy E. (Melton) Johnson on July 3rd, 1927 in Elm Creek, Nebraska. She moved to Naponee at the age of two. She attended Naponee public school until her graduation in 1945.

Maxine was united in marriage to Raymond Vincent Taylor on July 5th, 1946 at Phillipsburg, Kansas. To this union three children were born: Linda, Raymond and Karl.

Maxine was steadfast in her faith. Family and friends can find comfort in her conviction of reuniting with loved ones at Heaven’s gate and walking the streets of gold. She entered eternal life Saturday, April 29th, 2023 at the Harlan County hospital in Alma, Nebraska.  She was 95 years of age.

Maxine was a loving housewife to her high school sweetheart, Vincent for 58 years. They began their life working side by side on a farm near Naponee. She enjoyed traveling and vacationing all across the U.S.A. She and Vincent were members of NCHA. They often invited her parent’s, their children and/or grandchildren to join them on their adventures.

After Vincent’s retirement, they returned to Naponee and she enjoyed a large garden, growing flowers and bird watching. Each of her grandchildren will agree she baked the best cookies they ever tasted. During her life she cared for or baby sat each of her grandchildren and they will be forever grateful for her love and the memories that were made.

Maxine was preceded in death by her husband Vincent (2005), her father (1977), her mother (1984), an infant brother Paul William (1923), and infant sister Connie B. (1930), sister Thelma Waydene (1943), brother Basil K. Johnson (2002), her son Raymond DeWayne (2007), son-in-law Archie Cool (2009), daughter-in-law Mary (2019), and recently her sister-in-law Florence Schriner (2021) and nephew Bobby Joe Schriner (2023).

Left to cherish her memory are daughter Linda Cool, Franklin, Nebraska and her children Wanda Huffaker (William), Benita Mitchem and Tina Beisner; son Karl Taylor, Naponee, Nebraska and his children Dawn Dogan (John), Regina Hurst (Doug) and Thomas Taylor (Amanda); eleven grandchildren and sixteen great, great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
