Memorials for Marvel may be made in her honor to the Arbor Care Center of Franklin.
Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and Friend Marvel Leone Meade passed away peacefully on May 23, 2025, in Franklin, Nebraska. She was a woman of deep love and compassion, known for her caring heart and the warmth she shared with everyone fortunate enough to know her. Marvel was born September 26, 1943 on a farm in Smith County, Kansas, and graduated from Franklin High School. On November 8, 1961, she married the love of her life, Richard Meade. Together, they began a journey that took them around the world. As part of Richard’s service in the U.S. Air Force, the couple lived in England, Maine, Louisiana, and Kansas before settling back in Franklin, where they spent the rest of their lives together. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Vicki and Terry. Marvel's life was centered around her family, whom she cherished deeply. She found great joy in spending time with loved ones—whether gathered around the table for a game of cards, working on puzzles, or reading a good book. She also enjoyed feeding the birds, cheering for the Huskers, and always had a bowl of candy ready for visitors. Her presence brought comfort, laughter, and love to every room she entered. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a proud grandmother, a delighted great-grandmother, and a loyal friend to many. Marvel was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Meade; her parents, Orval and Carrie Cole; her sister, Phyllis Kesselman; and son-in-law, Bob Lepant. Her legacy lives on in those who survive her: her daughter, Vicki Lepant of Grand Island, Nebraska, Vicki’s children, Carrie Lepant and fiance Harley Eliason of Gering, Nebraska and Nick Lepant of Grand Island; her son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Debbie Meade of Franklin, and their children, Tyler Meade of Sidney, Nebraska, Austin Meade of Franklin, Courtney Meade and fiance Levi Lennemann of Franklin, and Levi Meade of Franklin; and her great-grandchildren, Audri and Oakli Meade of Sidney, Nebraska. Marvel will be remembered for her kindness, her joyful spirit, and the unconditional love she gave so freely. Her memory will continue to inspire and comfort all who loved her. A celebration of Marvel’s life will be held on Wednesday, May 28, at 11:00 a.m. at Franklin Congregational United Church with Pastor Jay Towell officiating. Viewing will be held Tuesday, May 27, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hutchins Funeral Home, Franklin, Nebraska.
