Lloyd Fruhling

Lloyd Fredrick Fruhling was born February 1, 1933, in Harlan County, Nebraska to Albert Diedrich and Clara Martha Wilken Fruhling. He passed away from this life on Monday, March 1, 2010 at Golden Living Center, Franklin, Nebraska at the age of 77.

He attended school at Springbrook in Harlan County and graduated from Hildreth High School. He married Joanne Vahle on March 6, 1956 in Woodruff, KS. To this union three children were born: Cheryl, Linda and Sandra Jean. For 18 years prior to moving to the farm he was assistant manager at Hildreth Coop, numerous years at Keen Coop, and was a television repairman. They lived on the farm for 17 years before moving to town. He served in the Korean War from 1951 to 1953. He was a member of the Hildreth VFW Post 6019. He loved his children and grandkids, and helped with daycare for 37 years before retiring due to his health.

He is survived by his wife Joanne Fruhling, Franklin, NE; daughters: Cheryl Griffith and husband George, Almena, KS; Linda Fruhling, Franklin, NE; grandchildren: Seth Hardy, Denver, CO; Jason Hardy and wife Heather, Hays, KS; Nathan Hardy, Norton, KS; Kristin Hardy, Manhattan, KS; great grandchildren: Austin and Tucker Hardy, Hays, KS; brothers: Lawrence Fruhling and wife Sandee, Wilber, NE; Leland Fruhling and wife Carla, Kearney, NE; sisters: Lorena Ryan, York, NE and Leona Snider and husband Charles, York, NE.

He was preceded in death by daughter Sandra Jean, parents, Brother-in-laws Darrell Vahle and Richard Ryan.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Friday, March 5, 2010 at Franklin United Methodist Church, with Rev. Neil Kloppenborg officating. Visitation will be from 9 AM to 8 PM Thursday, March 4, 2010 at Hutchins Funeral Home. Burial will be at 2:00PM Friday, March 5, 2010 in Long Island Cemetery, Long Island, KS with graveside Military Honors by American Legion Roy C Goodrich Post #304. The family suggests memorials to Franklin EMS, United Methodist Church or Golden Living Center.
