West Des Moines, Iowa

Lloyd Allen Beach, 83, of West Des Moines, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on April 7, 1943, in Smith County, Kansas, the third of four sons born to Harold and Bonnie (Kelso) Beach. Lloyd grew up in Franklin, Nebraska, and graduated from Franklin High School, where he met the love of his life, Karlene (Rodenbaugh) Beach.

Lloyd and Karlene were married in 1964 and were blessed to celebrate 60 years together before her passing. After their marriage, they made their home in Hildreth, Nebraska, before moving to Valentine, Nebraska, where Lloyd served as a Cherry County Sheriff’s Deputy. In 1979, they moved to Doniphan, Nebraska, where Lloyd began working for Doniphan Public Schools as head of maintenance and custodian. Known to many simply as “Mr. Beach,” he took great pride in his work and in caring for the school and the students who passed through its halls.

Lloyd and Karlene had two children, Scott Allen and Jennifer Jo. Jennifer married Eric Barp, and together they have two children, Lexi and Tyler Barp. Lloyd and Karlene loved to spend their time fishing, camping, and being with family. After living in Nebraska most of their lives, they moved to Iowa in 2016 to be closer to their grandchildren. Lloyd’s grandchildren were especially important to him, and he never missed an opportunity to spend time with them.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Karlene; son, Scott Allen; parents, Harold and Bonnie Beach; brother, Lee Beach; sister-in-law, Nancy Beach; mother- and father-in-law, Helen and Raymond Rodenbaugh; brothers-in-law, Roy Rodenbaugh, Bobby Rodenbaugh, and Roger Wiles; sisters-in-law, Darlene Harper and Marlene Wiles; and nephews, Bruce Beach and Jeff Beach.
