Lisa M. Cole

Lisa Michelle Cole, 52 years old, passed away on March 27, 2024 at Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings, NE. She was born June 13, 1971 in Lincoln, NE.  Her parents, Lavern and Sondra Cole adopted her as a newborn from Child Savings Institute in Lincoln.  Lisa was a resident of Grand Island, NE and a 1989 graduate of Franklin High School.  After high school Lisa attended Vennard College in University Park, IA. 

Lisa worked in fast food most her life but her true passion was helping and working with elderly people.  She worked at Mount Carmel Home in Kearney as a Certified Medication Aid.  After working a short time, Lisa’s health turned bad, and she became disabled.  

Lisa moved to Grand Island with her companion, Phil Skaggs, where they resided together for the last 15 years.  Lisa and Phil spent all their time together and loved each other very much.      Lisa’s greatest joy in life was her two daughters, Tiffany and Abby.  The most difficult decision Lisa had to make in life would also be her most selfless act and that was to give her daughter, Abby, up for adoption.  God hand chose a family for Abby, and they allowed Lisa and her family to be a part of Abby’s life. Lisa and her oldest daughter, Tiffany, would talk on the phone often and share their love for animals.  Although circumstances in Lisa’s life didn’t allow her to be the mother, she wished she could be, she always said her daughters were her greatest accomplishments and loved them more than anything.    

It would not be right to speak about Lisa’s life without mentioning her best friend, Dorcas.  Maya Angelou once said, “try to be a rainbow in someone’s cloud” and that is exactly what Dorcas was - Lisa’s rainbow.  They were always there for each other and best friends for over 20 years. 

Lisa is survived by her longtime companion, Phill Skaggs of Hastings NE, best friend, Dorcas   , Mason of Hastings, NE, daughters Tiffany Adam (Shaun) of Franklin, NE. and Abby Chadwick of Newton, KS.  Sister, Lori Cole, of Franklin, NE. Uncle, Larry Bose (Debra) of Lincoln, NE, Niece's, Madison McKinney (Sam), Emily Eckley and Kinsey Clark all of Franklin, NE. and Great Niece, Noa June McKinney.  Cousins and friends.  

She is preceded in death by her parents, Lavern and Sondra Cole, brother, David Cole, grandmothers, Guila Conaway and Verdia Cole and grandfathers, Lloyd Conaway and Bill Bose.

Cremation services were selected, and family inurnment will be with her family in Greenwood cemetery, Franklin. Memorial services will be held 10:30am Saturday, April 6^th, 2024 at Crossgate Community Church with Pastor Kasey Loschen officiating.
