Lilah B. Roberts

Lilah Belle (Kugler) Roberts was born November 23, 1922 in rural Franklin County near

Riverton, Nebraska. She was the daughter of Alfred and Sarah (Noble) Kugler and sister to

Merlyn, Gerald, Elton, and Darlene. She attended country school in Spring Valley and then

graduated from Campbell High School in 1940.

Lilah was married to Roy Roberts on September 4, 1943 in Thornburg, Kansas and to this union

four children were born. She lived in Franklin County for the majority of her 101 years. Lilah

had many occupations throughout the years, homemaker, teacher, bookkeeper, and secretary for

the City of Franklin. She was a member of the Franklin United Methodist Church and Circle,

American Legion Auxiliary No. 209, and 50-year member of the Rebekah Lodge.

Saturday morning July 6 th , 2024 Lilah passed from this life at Arbor Care Centers, Franklin. She

was 101 years just 5 months shy of her 102 nd birthday. She was preceded in death by her parents;

husband Roy in 1997; infant children Stanley, Lana Jean and Roslyn; three brothers and one

sister.

Lilah will be forever remembered by her daughter Joyce Slack and husband Jim; grandson Kyle

Slack and wife Echo; her great grandsons, Emerson, Canyon, Scout, Brooks, and Bodhi; sister-

in-law Janie Kugler; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Funeral services will be 2:00pm Saturday, July 13 th , 2024 at Hutchins Funeral Home, Franklin,

Nebraska with Pastor Rodney Heilbrun officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood

Cemetery, Franklin. Joyce and family will be greeting family and friends at the funeral home one

hour prior to the service. Memorials to the family’s choice to be designated later.
