Christian Biography of Larry L. Decker

Larry L. Decker, the son of Harm and Elizabeth (Diener) Decker, was born on August 14,
1938 at Bloomington, Nebraska. He passed away on September 13, 2007 at the Franklin County
Memorial Hospital in Franklin, Nebraska after a lengthy illness at the age of 69 years and 29 days.

Larry graduated from Bloomington High School and after graduation he joined the United
States Navy in August 27, 1957 and was honorably discharged on November 17, 1977. During his
career with the Navy he achieved the rank of Chief Petty Officer and was Machinist Mate . He
received the Navy Achievement Medal, the Good Conduct Medal five times, Meritorious Unit
Commendation. He was the Chief Reactor Auxiliary Operator of the U.S.S. Enterprise Reactor
Department.

Larry was united in marriage to Barbara J. Frerichs, on November 29, 1964 at Ash Grove,
Nebraska. To this union a son, Steven John Decker, was born August 4, 1970. They lived on both
coasts during Larry's navel career. Upon his retirement from the Navy, the family moved to
Franklin, Nebraska. Larry was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Franklin. He worked for
Blank Motor for several years and also helped manage the Franklin Country Club. Larry enjoyed
gardening, going golfing, and rides in the country. Larry's health began to decline in January 2006.
And he had many operations and procedures done, and suffered tremendously the past year.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara of Franklin, Nebraska, son, Steven John Decker of
Omaha, Nebraska, his brother-in-law, Robert and wife JoAnn Wood, of San Jose, California, along
with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
