Katherine Elaine "Kathy" (Schmidt) Walker was born February 9, 1952, at the Webster County Hospital in Red Cloud, Nebraska, to Gene Schmidt and Anna H. (Bienhoff) Schmidt, and departed this life on November 26, 2013, at the Golden Living Center, Franklin, Nebraska, at the age of 61 years, 9 months, and 17 days.
Kathy was baptized in the Lutheran Church in Red Cloud, and attended school in Riverton until it closed. She finished her last three years of education at the Franklin High School, Franklin, Nebraska. She was married to Jim Cantor and after divorce she married Rod Edgar. Rod and Kathy divorced later, and she married Rex Walker, who preceded her in death.
Kathy was a card player,4 point pitch and Skip Bo, and many board games, but do not cheat. She enjoyed puzzles, and family. Kathy worked in Housekeeping at the Webster County Hospital and later at the Nursing Home. If the Cornhuskers were playing, and it was televised, Kathy was ready to cheer on volleyball or football, otherwise she enjoyed a good game show.
She was preceded in death by huband, Rex Walker: her father - Gene in March 1989; step-father - Elmer Rust; two brothers - Richard in February of 2002 and Melvin in February 2003; son - Jimmy Cantor in August 1972; and brother-in-law - Donald Walker.
She is survived by her daughters, Michele Sedersten of Saronville, Nebraska, and Edie Billiar of Macon, Nebraska; son - Rodney Edgar; sister - Beverly Walker of Riverton, Nebraska; and her mother - Anna Rust of Riverton, Nebraska; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A celebration of life service for Katherine Elaine "Kathy" Walker will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 2. 2013, at the Riverton Cemetery, Riverton, Nebraska, with Pastor Kasey Loschen officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday, December 1, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Hutchins Funeral Home, and visitation will be on Sunday, December 1, 2013, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Hutchins Funeral Home. The family suggests memorial contributions be give to the family for final expenses. Condolences may be left on line at www.hutchinsfh.com. Hutchins Funeral Home, 1401 M.
