Glenn A. Splattstoesser, Sr.

Franklin resident, Glenn A. Splattstoesser, Sr. passed away Saturday, March 11, 2023, at Kearney Regional Medical Center.

Glenn was born the youngest of six children to Gustave and Grace (Hogeland) Splattstoesser on the family farm north of Franklin on December 24th, 1934. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church in Upland, Nebraska and attended school in rural Franklin County.

On July 11th, 1953, he married the love of his life Lucy Lorraine Smith in Smith Center, Kansas. To this union three children were born: Kay, Glenn, Jr., and Lisa

Glenn worked as a lineman and later line superintendent for REA (now Southern Power), and as the power plant operator for the City of Franklin. After retirement, he helped Lucy with her day care.

His favorite pastimes were camping, Husker football, sitting on the deck just watching the world go by, but his greatest enjoyment came from being with his family.

Left to mourn his passing is his wife of 69 years, Lucy; children Kay (Bill) Schmidt, Glenn (Vicki) Splattstoesser, Jr. and Lisa Splattstoesser; grandchildren Shelly (Mike) Bower, Deanna (Mike) Lennemann, Becky (Matt) Bower, Gina (Brian) Welsh, Grady (Lydia) Splattstoesser, Jess (Travis) Jackson, Lacey (Chris) Albert, and Lindsey (Craig) West; nineteen great grandchildren; and four great, great grandchildren; sister-in-law Norma Splattstoesser Bolles; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents; siblings Marjorie Beck, Mildred Fries, Walter Splattstoesser, Maxine Plank, and Harold Splattstoesser; in-laws W.F. and Nina Smith, Nadine Baker, Arlene Watkins, Verla Smith, Ancil Endsley and Frank Endsley; nephew Bob Fries and niece Sandra Gardner.

Memorial services will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, March 18th, 2023 at the Evangelical Free Church, Franklin, Nebraska with Pastor Bill Stearns officiating. Family inurnment will be in Greenwood Cemetery at a later date.

Hutchins Funeral Home assisted the Splattstoesser family with these arrangements.
