Ethel Amy Van Camp was born four miles southeast of Franklin, Nebraska on February 28, 1922 to Millard and Bessie Van Camp. She passed away from this life on February 10, 2010 at the Golden Living Center, Franklin, Nebraska at the age of 87.

She attended elementary school near there known as Blake School which was District 62. She graduated from Franklin High School in 1940. She attended Bethel College in Mishawaka, Indiana. In 1962, she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from what is now known as University of Nebraska at Kearney.

She taught in several one-room schools, York Public Schools, Holdrege Public Schools, and Franklin Public Schools. She retired from teaching in December 1984. She was a member of Kappa Delta Pi, an Honorary Society in Education. She was also a member of the Franklin Missionary Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher, Youth Director, Pianist, Organist, Sunday School Superintendent, President and Treasurer of the Women;s Missionary Society, and also on the Church Board. She was also a member of the Christian Fellowship of the Evangelical Free Church. She played the piano and did other volunteer work at the Franklin Nursing Home. She later became a resident there.

She is survived by her nephew Robert Victor Van Camp and wife Marjorie, Topeka, KS; nieces Karen Brown and husband Richard, Eaton, CO; and Miriam Cowan, Omaha, NE; several great nephews and nieces and great great nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Millard and Bessie Van Camp, sister- Ada May Van Camp and brother and sister-in-law Howard and Lorene Van Camp.

Funeral services will be at 11 AM, Saturday, February 13, 2010 at Hutchins Funeral Home with Rev. David Johnson officiating. Visitation will be from 9 AM to 12 PM Friday and 9 AM to service time on Saturday. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Franklin, Nebraska. The family suggests memorials to the American Heart Association.
