Ernest Waldene Monie of Franklin Nebraska passed away on August 28, 2019, at the Arbor Care Center in Franklin, Nebraska.
Ernie was born on November 27, 1930, in Franklin County, Nebraska to Ernest and Minnie (Kennedy) Monie.
Ernie and Bonnie (Ruberson) were married on April 6, 1952. To this union three children were born: Patricia, Ricky, and Tammi. They were privileged to celebrate their 65th Anniversary in 2017 with all the family members present.
Ernie worked in various jobs while living in the community. He had many fond memories of helping to build the Harlan County Reservoir. This past year he delighted in his many adventures to drive around the lake and seeing it at its historical fullest!
Ernie’s favorite things to do were spending time hunting and fishing with Bonnie, his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Ernie also took great pleasure in gardening. He shared most of his produce with family and friends. He is most known for his ability to grow garlic.
Ernie is preceeded in death by his wife – Bonnie; daughter – Tammi; his parents – Ernie and Minnie; brothers – Keith, Gordon, Quinten, Walter and John; and baby sister – Norma.
Survivors include his daughter – Pat and husband, Steve Hogeland of Bloomington, Nebraska; son – Rick and wife, Leanna Monie, of Ogallala, Nebraska; grandchildren and great-grandchildren – Andy, and wife, Melinda Hogeland and children – Spencer, Quinten and William of Kearney, Nebraska; Hillary (Monie) and husband, Brian Moran, and children – Madison and Gracie of Kansas City, Missouri; Charles and wife, Daresa Hogeland, and children – Dylan Ash, Drew Ash, Madison Ash, Brantley and Ava Hogeland of Kearney, Nebraska; Melissa Monie of Lincoln, Nebraska and Heath and wife- Jacqueline Monie, and children – Violet and Lilac of North Platte, Nebraska; sisters – Shirley and husband Robert Lennemann of Franklin, Nebraska, and Sharon and husband Roger Schneider of Quitman, Texas; and brother – Gary and wife – Roseanne Monie of Franklin, Nebraska; and a host of nieces; nephews; family; and friends.
Ernie has dedicated his body to the University of Nebraska for research.
There will be a memorial service for Ernie and Bonnie at a later date. Hutchins Funeral Home, Franklin, Nebraska was in charge of arrangements.
