Elden Watson

Elden Eugene Watson was born September 28, 1924 in Riverton, Nebraska to Eddie Ray and Laura Belle Paulson Watson. He passed away from this life on Friday, December 24, 2010 at Franklin County Memorial Hospital, Franklin, Nebraska at the age of 86.

He graduated from Campbell High School. He married Rebecca Rogers on December 16, 1950 in Franklin, NE. He was a farmer and a heavy equipment operator for Webster and Franklin Counties. He served during World War II and received the Victory Medal. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Camper Club, National Campers and Hikers Association, and the Republican Valley Sod Busters.

He is survived by his wife Rebecca of the home, sons: Arden Watson and wife Darline, Atlanta, NE; David Watson and wife Helen, Deshler, NE; and Rod Watson and wife Cindy, Deshler, NE; grandchildren: Joseph Watson and wife Kate, Shepherd, MT; Sarah Moorman and husband Matt, Blue Hill, NE; Scott Richey, Colville, WA; Kristi Wright and husband Dale, Columbia, MO; Penny Befort and husband Scott, Deshler, NE; Ashley Watson, San Diego, CA; Michelle Schardt and husband Brendan, Byron, NE; Miranda Isernhagen and husband Eric, Deshler, NE; Jarrod Watson and Whitney, Hebron, NE; and 13 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son- Lyle Gordon, and grandson- Rodney, Jr..

Memorial services will be at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at The UCC- Congregational Church, Franklin, Nebraska with Pastor Herman Keen officiating. Visitation will be from 9AM to 8PM Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at Hutchins Funeral Home. Burial will be in Riverton Cemetery with Graveside Military Honors by Riverton American Legion Post #328. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to The Campers Club Scholarship, The UCC- Congregational Church or the Franklin County Museum.
