Cynthia Joy Copley, 80, passed away on Sunday, July 12th, 2026, at Bryan East Medical Center, Lincoln, Nebraska surrounded by her family. The daughter of James Robert and Evelyn M. (Schweitzer) Morrison. Cynthia was born on January 10, 1946, in Oregon City, Oregon.

Cynthia was a graduate of Milwaukie High School, Milwaukie, Oregon. She received her bachelor’s degree in Home Economics from Linfield University in McMinnville, OR and a master’s degree in Home Economics from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO.

Cynthia met Paul Copley at Colorado State University, Fort Collins, Colorado while he was working on his PhD in Agronomy. On March 22, 1969, she and the love of her life, Paul Copley were united in marriage at the Milwaukie Church of Christ in Milwaukie, Oregon.

Cynthia was an Entrepreneur and Homemaker. She worked on custom sewing projects with Cindy’s Sewing, wheat weaving crafts with Wheat Creations, and owned and managed a restaurant “The Dugout” in Franklin, Nebraska.

This union was blessed with two sons, Scott and Arlyn. From there they moved to St. Paul, Minnesota due to Paul’s work with Cenex. After living in the big city for a couple of years, Cynthia, Paul, and the boys decided to move back to the family farm. They farmed full time from 1973 to 1995.

She was a faithful member of the Evangelical Free Church of Franklin where she served in various capacities. Cynthia’s love for her family was the mainstay of her life.

She is survived by her two sons Scott (Inggrid) Copley of Cedar Crest, New Mexico and Arlyn (Sheila) Copley of Denton, Nebraska; grandchildren: Paul, Keane, Sam, Ben (Mary), Ava, and Elliot; her sisters, Sharon Wilhite (Salem Oregon), sister-in-law, Jo Ann (Jim) Hossler, Franklin, Nebraska; brother-in-law, James (Shirley) Copley, Sun City Center, Florida, several nieces, and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death was her husband Paul Copley, parents James and Evelyn Morrison, sister, Shirley Mickel, sister-in-law, Ruth Hostetler and brother-in-law, Roger Hostetler.

Visitation with the family present to receive friends will be Friday, July 17th, 2026, from 10 am –11 am at the Evangelical Free Church in Franklin.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 17th, 2026, at the Evangelical Free Church with Pastor Bill Stearns officiating. She will be laid to rest in Greenwood Cemetery, Franklin next to her husband Paul.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions given to the Evangelical Free Church in care of Hutchins Funeral Home, PO Box 252, Franklin, Nebraska 68939 who assisted the Copley family with these arrangements.
