CLARICE JOSEPHINE LIPP was born October 16, 1933 in Madison, South Dakota, the 6th child of 8 siblings, to Severin J and Emma H Stephenson Merager.  She inherited her name from her aunt who passed away on the same day. She was baptized and confirmed in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Madison and was a Graduate of Central High School in Madison.

She married Leland “Jim” Lipp in Island View, Washington, on July 11, 1951 and they were blessed with 4 children – Deborah Lynn, Teresa “Terri” Jo, Jennifer Jean and Leland “Lanni” Ray Jr.

She was a member of the Franklin United Methodist Church since 1952, a member in the choir, and Chairperson of the Memorial Committee.  She sang with the Barbershoppers Chorus of the Heartland, Prairieland and Melodears Chapters of Sweet Adelines since 1973.  She also sang bass with the Novice Winning Charaides and Heart of the Prairie Quartets.  She led Sing-a-longs at the Franklin Nursing Center every Monday for 14 years.

She was a member of the Mrs. Jaycees, the VFW Auxiliary Post #5757, a volunteer member of the Good Samaritan Hospice Team for 13 years and Aseracare Hospice for 6 years.  She was Chairperson of the Franklin County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and Co-Chairperson of the American Red Cross Bloodmobile, Community Action Partnership of NE and played in the same Bridge Club for 56 years.

She was an avid Mickey Mouse collector starting in grade school. Her nieces and nephews nicknamed her Auntie Mickey Mouse. Many of her little friends just loved to visit her and look at all the Mickeys.

Over the years she was employed at The Sale Barn Saddle Shop, The Style Shop, Franklin Hardware and Miller’s Jewelry Store.

She was so very proud of all of her Children and Grand Children.

Clarice passed from this life Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at Arbor Care Center, Franklin, Nebraska at the age of 90 Years.

She is survived by her daughters, Deb (Ray) Stuckenschmidt of Greeley, CO, Terri (Larry) Post of Naponee, NE, and her son Lanni Lipp also of Greeley, Co.  She was known as Grammy by her Grandchildren, Dr Amy (Kris) Herbig of Kearney, NE, Marci (Brandon) Hersh of Inavale, NE, Lindy Stuckenschmidt, Lee (Debi) Stuckenschmidt, Kamrynn Lipp (Luke Mjoen) and Makenna Lipp all from Greeley CO.  Great grands, Joseph and Olivia Paysen, Berrick and Marissa Hersh, Adlyn Mills, Aiden and Asher Mjoen.  And very special friend Glen Hopkins. Brother Doug (Joanie) Merager and Sister Elaine Struwe of Madison, SD, and longtime friend Betty Davis of Franklin.  Many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Leland, daughter Jenni, sisters Marci McCormick, Annie Brown, Donna Dillehay, Phyllis Westbay and brother Johnnie Merager.

Her greatest wish was that you would do something kind for somebody else, that you would call or visit them to brighten their day. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Hospice, the Franklin Methodist Church or the Family’s discretion.

Funeral services will be held 2:00pm Saturday, March 30th, 2024 at the United Methodist Church, Franklin, Nebraska with Pastor Rod Heilbrun officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Hutchins Funeral Home, Franklin, Nebraska assisted the Lipp family with these arrangements.
