Clarence G. Blank passed away from this life on Sunday, October 3, 2010 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital at the age of 93. He was born August 11, 1917, in Macon to Joh nT and Matilda Kleen Blank.
He attended District 67 through the 8th Grade and graduated from Franklin High School. He was the youngest of 8 children. He married Vera Lipp on July 24, 1938 in Macon, NE. He was a housing superintendent, and a volunteer fireman. He went to Japan for Occupational Forces while in the Army. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, the VFW and American Legion.
He loved to sing, music, and sang in the United Methodist Church choir, and sang at many weddings and funerals for many years. They lived in Franklin until 1956, moved to Albuquerque, NM until 1967, then moved to Holdrege and was a maintenance supervisor at Methodist Memorial Home. In 1975, he went to work as superintendent in Good Samaritan Society as superintendent of Construction. He retired in 1985 and moved back to Franklin in 1988, where they made their home until his death.
He is survived by his wife Vera of the home; daughters Shirley Kahrs and husband Bonnie, Bloomington, NE; Barbara Knipp, Kansas City, KS; sons C. LeRoy Blank and wife Diane, Norman, OK; and Denis Blank and wife Marietta, Lincoln, NE; grandchildren: Julie Einspahr and husband Ron, Republican City, NE; Roger Kahrs and wife Connie, Bloomington, NE; Diana Hammer and husband Doug, Franklin, NE; Herman Knipp III and wife Susan, Louisburg, KS; Conrad Knipp and wife Kami, Louisburg, KS; David Blank and wife Colene, St. Paul, MN; Nathan Blank and wife Joleen, St. Louis, MO; Adam Blank, Lincoln, NE; 18 great grandchildren; 2 step great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; 4 step great great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents, sisters: Marie Rademacher, Rosena Folkers, Helen Braams, Helena Goodrich and Edna Blank; brothers: Tommy and Herman Blank and son-in-law Herman Knipp.
Funeral services will be at 10:30AM Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at the United Methodist Church with Rev. Nancy Leonard officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery with Military Honors by VFW Post #5757. Visitation will be 9AM to 8PM Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at Hutchins Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials to the United Methodist Church.
