Carl Stuhmer

Carl William Stuhmer, youngest son of Henry and Anna Kamps Stuhmer was born on a farm northeast of Franklin, NE on Noveber 17, 1920. He passed away at Litzenberg Memorial County Hospital on Sunday, June 7 2009 at the age of 88 years, 6 months, and 20 days. He was baptized in infancy on December 15, 1920 at Zion Lutheran Church near Macon, NE and was confirmed in the same church on April 14, 1935, his confirmation verse was John 17:3. He attended District 15 County School east of Franklin and graduated from Franklin HS with the class of 1937. He attended Uiversity of Nebraska Lincoln for one year. Carl was a lifelong farmer on the family farm. He lived there until 1992 when he and his wife moved to Franklin. The last seven months of his life he resided in the Community Care Center in Central City, NE. He was united in marriage to Elfrieda Baack on April 25, 1948. To this union three children were born. He was a lifelong active church member Zion Lutheran Church near Macon, NE. He as a conscientious farmer who was rewarded by the Franklin county conservation District for his practices. He served as a school board member, 4-H leader, and a charter member of the Franklin County Co-Op. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Elfrieda, 2 sons and daughter in laws- Keith and Donna Stuhmer- valley springs, CA; Kerry and Janice Stuhmer, Central City, NE; daughter and son in law Peggy and Neil Drees of Austin MN. 10 grandchildren, Don (Christie) Stuhmer, Brian (Michele) Stuhmer- both Linden, CA; Jason Stuhmer, Stockton, CA; Travis (Kimberly) Stuhmer Milford, NE; Sarah (Ryan) Schoen, Adams, NE; Tammy Stuhmer, Lincoln, NE; Samuel and Joanna Stuhmer of Central City; Nathan and Caitlin Drees of Austin, MN; and 4 great grandchildren- Grant and Chantz Stuhmer, Teagan Haynes, and Carleigh Schoen; Sister in law Mildred Stuhmer of Alma, NE; and host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Preceded in death by parents, 3 sisters-Lizzie Bienhoff, Hannah Scathoff, and Lena Memming, and 1 brother- Henry Stuhmer.

Funeral services will be at 10:30AM, Thursday, June 11, 2009 at Macon Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Baron Cole officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11AM to 7PM and Wednesday from 9AM to 9PM and 1 hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Macon zion Lutheran Cemetery, Macon, Nebraska. The family suggests memorials to the Donor's Choice.
