Bruce Frerichs

Bruce Alan Frerichs, 54, of Kearney passed away at his residence at Kearney Manor on Saturday, April 24, 2010.

He was born on March 24, 1956 to Edwin and Evonne "Bonnie" (Bartels) Frerichs in Franklin, Nebraska.

Bruce was baptized by Pastor Whittenburg at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in the Ash Grove community North of Bloomington. He was confirmed in his Christian faith on May 30, 1971 by Reverend Henry Pralle at Grace Lutheran Church in Franklin. His confirmation verse was, "Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me."
(Psalm 51: 1)

He spent his childhood on the family farm and attended Bloomington Public School through the fifth grade and then continued his education at Wilcox School where he graduated from high school in May 1975.

Bruce farmed with the family farm corporation until five years ago when a severe seizure rendered him unable to operate large equipment. He later enrolled in the Kearney Job Opportunity Training Program and was then employed by the Goodwill Industries and The Chicken Coop in Kearney until his death.

He enjoyed collecting belt buckles, collector cars and being with his family, especially his nieces and nephews.

Bruce is survived by his parents Edwin and Evonne (Bonnie) Frerichs, brothers Gary, Douglas and wife Susan, six nieces and nephews, nine great nephews and one great niece.

He is preceded in death by his sister Peggy.

Funeral Services will be Saturday, May 1, 2010 at 10:00 AM at Grace Lutheran Church in Franklin, Nebraska with Vicar Chad Boggs officiating. Burial at Greenwood Cemetery in Franklin. Visitation will be Friday from 8 AM to 8 PM at Hutchins Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials to the Nebraska Heart Association and the Lutheran World Relief Fund.
